Post registration education
On 1 July, the former Thames Valley Strategic Health Authority (which
covered the NHS in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire) was
superseded by South Central Strategic Health Authority (which covers the
NHS in these three counties together with Hampshire and the Isle of
Wight).
The material on these WebPages is still relevant for the north of NHS
South Central (i.e. Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire),
although this material will be updated in time and is likely to be
placed on a new website for NHS Education South Central in due course.
Thames Valley SHA holds contracts on behalf of the NHS Trusts for post-registration accredited education with the following Universities:
- Buckinghamshire including Milton Keynes– University of Luton
- Berkshire – Thames Valley University (who currently operate a franchise agreement for some courses with the University of Reading)
- Oxfordshire – Oxford Brookes University
There are also access arrangements in place to ensure that social services and the voluntary sector can access the same education on a fee free basis.
Currently all these contracts are being reviewed. This website is designed to inform all NHS Trusts, social services and the voluntary sector within the Thames Valley about what decisions have been made and how the review is progressing.
