Performance coaching for trainees
Overview
Many doctors and dentists in
training have difficulty demonstrating the required competencies to
progress to the next stage in their training. Sometimes this is because
of exam failure and sometimes because of performance at work which does
not reach the level expected for their stage in training. It is
important for them to listen carefully to feedback from their trainer,
and to understand in detail what the concerns are.
Trainers may refer their
trainees to the Career Development Unit and this should be seen by
trainees as a valuable opportunity to get some personal coaching in
order to get back on track.
