Managing performance: PCTs

Overview

There have been many developments in primary care performance procedures over the past few years and they are still evolving.

The guidelines on this site are extracted from the NCAS toolkit.

Investigating concerns about the performance of a GP or dental practitioner is the responsibility of the PCT, which manages the quality of care of a full range of primary medical professionals on their Performers list. This is a sensitive issue and PCT's need to protect patient safety while also treating people fairly, avoiding discrimination and adhering to standards of confidentiality.
