PCTs and performance management

• Investigating concerns about the performance of a GP or dental practitioner is the responsibility of the Primary Care Trust (PCT), which manages the quality of care of a full range of primary medical professionals on their Performers List.
• PCTs need to protect patient safety while also treating people fairly, avoiding discrimination and adhering to standards of confidentiality.
• The CDU has written A Guide for PCTs outlining how the CDU works with PCTs.
