Following higher surgical training at the Royal Free, St Marys Paddington, the Royal Marsden and the University of California, San Francisco I have been a consultant ENT Surgeon in East Berkshire since 1985. My main clinical interests are in the management of Head and Neck cancer and thyroid disease.
I have been Regional Adviser in ENT (1993-1998), an Associate Clinical Tutor in East Berkshire 1994-1996 and Associate Postgraduate Dean in Oxford since 1996. Elected to the Court of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2000 and appointed as joint Deanery and College Adviser in Surgery to the Oxford Deanery in 2005.
In the Deanery I have had an interest in Career Development for junior and senior doctors, publishing papers on the career aspirations of junior surgeons and those in non-consultant career grades. I have taken part in the Career Development Unit since its inception, particularly enjoying the pastoral aspects of the work.
